Digital technology and the digital economy
Develop skills to create services, start businesses and work with partners in Haiti and internationally.
Konekte pou Bati is an initiative helping Haitian youth discover future careers and build their professional pathways. It connects young people’s aspirations, local development needs and the expertise of professionals in Haiti and the diaspora.
The project is led by Jean Marie Altema, host of Haiti Tech Connect Podcast.
The Future Careers Fair on Saturday, November 14, 2026, held entirely online, launches Konekte pou Bati. This first gathering offers a chance to discover careers, meet professionals and explore training and opportunities. These connections are intended to continue through Rezo Konekte, the Opportunities Wall and project resources.
Build a lasting bridge between Haitian youth and the expertise of the diaspora to provide training for technology-related careers of the future, mobilize experts to support local communities, strengthen local governance, and turn “brain drain” into “brain gain”.
National development also depends on stronger local governments, local skills and the ability to take action. The four focus areas address complementary needs: producing, building businesses, improving services, cooperating and protecting communities.
Develop skills to create services, start businesses and work with partners in Haiti and internationally.
Make the most of local resources and integrate digital technology across the entire agricultural value chain: production, processing, storage, traceability, distribution and marketing. Build skills to strengthen local industries and open new career pathways.
Strengthen local governments through cooperation, civic participation and diaspora engagement. Use civic technology and data to support local governance, transparency, planning and better public services.
Explore the skills needed to protect people, infrastructure and systems, prevent risks and respond to crises.
Discover careers.
Connect with professionals.
Prepare by building your skills.
Build your community, your network and lasting collaborations.
Businesses, schools, universities, training centers, chambers of commerce, professional associations, diaspora organizations, local governments, public institutions, media and cooperation organizations can propose a partnership. Contributions may include expertise, training, opportunities, outreach, equipment or funding. Arrangements are agreed with the organizing team.
Through the conversations on Haiti Tech Connect Podcast, one conviction has grown stronger: Haiti has talent, and its diaspora holds considerable expertise. We need more opportunities for them to meet and work together.
Choosing a career means understanding the realities of the job, meeting people who do it and knowing where to start. As technology transforms professional activities, this guidance becomes essential. This is the spirit in which I launched Konekte pou Bati.
We are starting with a fair, with the ambition to sustain the connections it creates. Through Rezo Konekte, professionals in Haiti and the diaspora will be able to share their experience and support young people over time.
Our four focus areas address challenges that directly affect our communities. Helping a young person develop skills also gives them more ways to contribute locally. I invite professionals, businesses and institutions to join this effort.
Let’s discover possibilities, make connections and build what comes next together.
